Two of the oldest regiments in the Indian Army have their training centres in Ramgarh. One was raised in 1761. The other in 1846. Their barracks sit on more than 9,000 acres along the Damodar river, just down the road from your house.
Every morning in this town, children hear the drill at the cantonment. They see the rounds of jawans on parade. Many of their fathers, uncles or grandfathers wore that same uniform. Discipline is not a value parents in Ramgarh teach their kids. It is the very air they breathe.
And yet, for AISSEE preparation, families in this Army town have been driving to Ranchi or Bokaro. Or signing up for some online batch built for a child in Jaipur. That is a strange thing to accept in a town like Ramgarh.

Ramgarh has a history that few towns in India can match.
American forces trained Chinese troops here during World War II for the Burma campaign. The cemetery at Ramgarh still holds the graves of 667 of those soldiers. In March 1940, the Indian National Congress held its 53rd Session here, with a parallel forward bloc rally led by Subhash Chandra Bose.
After 1947, two of the Indian Army's senior infantry regiments moved their centres here, and they have stayed put since 1976. The Army Public School in the cantonment is one of the oldest in the eastern command. The cantonment itself was set up in 1941 and is now Category-I, the highest classification given.
Your child is growing up surrounded by all of this. Sainik School Tilaiya should feel like the natural next step - not some far-away dream.
200 questions. 150 minutes for Class 6. That works out to 45 seconds per question. Class 9 gives 180 minutes for 150 questions, which is just as tight.
This is where most kids slip. Not on the syllabus. On the timer.
A child who knows every answer can still freeze when the bell goes. They read each question twice. They burn ten minutes on one Maths sum. They forget the OMR until the last few minutes. And there is negative marking too - 0.25 marks cut for every wrong answer. One panicked guess can take away marks the child has already earned.
We fix this the only way that works. Every Saturday at our centre, your child sits a full mock test. Same paper pattern. Same OMR sheet. Same negative marking. After ten Saturdays, the January exam feels like the eleventh one. That calmness is what gets the seat.
This is the part most coaching centres never explain properly. Below is the latest 2025-26 quota structure from the official AISSEE ↗ Standard Operating Procedure, plain and clear.
Jharkhand Home State Quota: 67% This is the first big advantage your child has. 67 out of every 100 seats at Sainik School Tilaiya are kept for children from Jharkhand. So your child is not fighting national-level competition for every seat - mainly Jharkhand kids.
Within that, category quotas apply:
Defence Ward Quota: 25% of the remaining seats are reserved for wards of serving and ex-servicemen of the Army, Air Force and Navy. This is huge for Ramgarh. A large share of children in this town are eligible under this category, and most families don't know how to use it. Wards of Coast Guard and Assam Rifles personnel are also considered, but only after defence wards are placed.
Girl Candidates: A minimum of 10% seats, or at least 10 seats per class (whichever is higher), are reserved for girls in Class VI.
On day one, we sit with you and put your child's situation on paper. Domicile certificate, OBC-NCL central list verification, defence service papers - whatever applies to your family. You walk out knowing the exact target score your child needs to aim for. No vague talk. A clear number, in writing.
AISSEE Class 6 - Maths, English, General Knowledge and Intelligence. A chapter test before every new topic. No child moves to the next unit until they cross 70% in the current one.
AISSEE Class 9 - Same four plus Science and Social Studies. Wednesday chapter tests. Saturday full mock from 8 AM to 11 AM.
RMS Coaching - Rashtriya Military Schools, Class 6 and Class 9. The RMS paper leans harder on reasoning, and around 70% of RMS seats are kept for defence wards - which makes it a strong second option for many Ramgarh families. Our weekly practice is set up for that pattern from week one.
RIMC ↗ Coaching - Written exam, interview and viva taught as a single course. The mock interview panel includes a retired Army officer who has actually served. Your son faces a real interview here in Ramgarh long before he ever boards a train to Dehradun.
Crash Course - For families who come in by October. Daily class. Daily test. Doubt session every evening from 7:30 to 8:30.
Foundation Batch (Class 4 and 5) - Saturdays only. Mental Maths, picture reasoning, English reading. By the time the child reaches Class 6, half the AISSEE pattern is already familiar.

The 2025 list has children from the cantonment, from Gola, from Patratu and from the railway colonies near Barkakana. Several were defence wards. A few came in under the OBC-NCL and SC home-state lists.
A scholarship test is held every April and September. It is open to every child in Ramgarh district - whether you enrol with us first or not.
Last year, fourteen kids got fee waivers ranging from 25% to a full 100%. No child from Ramgarh Cantt, Gola, Mandu, Patratu, Chitarpur, Dulmi, Barkakana or the colliery townships around them should miss a Sainik School seat just because the family is short on money. Tell us straight away when you walk in. We will sort it. No long form. No awkward questions.
Serving and retired defence personnel - bring your service papers or pension book. Defence-ward concession is confirmed the same day.
OBC-NCL, SC and ST families - bring valid central-list category certificates and the Jharkhand domicile certificate. Separate fee slabs apply, and we will walk you through each one.
CCL and Railway families - special slab applies for industrial wards. Ask us at the counter.
Ramgarh district has six blocks - Ramgarh, Gola, Mandu, Patratu, Chitarpur and Dulmi - plus a sprawl of CCL colliery townships that don't appear neatly on any one block map. Some kids live closer to Barkakana yards than to Ramgarh town. Others live up the hill in Patratu and Mandu.
So we run a live online batch alongside the classroom. Same teacher. Same hour. Same test paper. Your child joins from home on a phone or a basic laptop. The Saturday mock test is taken on a printed OMR sheet that we post to your address. You scan and send it back the same evening.
Three of our 2025 selections came through this online batch. One was from Patratu thermal township. Two from CCL colonies near Gola. The format works.
