A Simple Guide To All Three Exams

Don't let the exam names confuse you. Here's everything you need to know in plain words.

AISSEE - All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination NTA conducts this exam every year to fill seats in Sainik Schools across India. They release the notification around October or November and hold the exam in January. Your child can appear for Class 6 if they're between 10 and 12 years old, or for Class 9 if they're 13 to 15 years old (age counted as of 31st March). Both boys and girls can now apply for Class 6.

RMS CET - Rashtriya Military School ↗ Common Entrance Test The Directorate General of Military Training runs this exam for five Rashtriya Military Schools in India. They announce it around September or October and conduct the test in December. Boys and girls aged 10 to 12 can apply for Class 6. Only boys aged 13 to 15 qualify for Class 9. The paper covers maths, English, GK, and reasoning.

RIMC - Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Exam This one separates the serious aspirants from everyone else. RIMC Dehradun admits students only in Class 8. They put out the notification around February or March and hold the written exam in June. Boys and girls aged 11.5 to 13 who study in or have passed Class 7 can sit for it. Only about 25 students clear the cut each term. Yeah - it's that competitive.
