In 1855, two brothers from this soil stood up against the mightiest colonial power in the world. Sido and Kanhu Murmu had no army, no formal schooling, and no weapons beyond bows and arrows. They moved 60,000 Santhals into rebellion anyway. That uprising gave birth to Santhal Pargana - and Dumka became its heart.
Dumka is the sub-capital of Jharkhand. The headquarters of an entire division. A city named after damin-i-koh - the skirts of the hills. The same hills that sheltered freedom fighters for generations.
Children growing up here come from families who have never been afraid of a hard road. That is exactly what Sainik School Tilaiya is looking for. And yet, for AISSEE preparation, families in Dumka have been sending their children to Deoghar, Dhanbad, or into online batches built for some other district entirely.
That is a gap we have closed. Proper Sainik School coaching is now here in Dumka.
Class 6 AISSEE - 200 questions, 150 minutes. That is 45 seconds per question, flat. Class 9 AISSEE - 150 questions, 180 minutes. Equally tight.
Knowing the syllabus is not enough. A child who knows every answer can still drop 30 marks by going too slow on Maths, re-reading English passages twice, or panicking when the OMR sheet is half empty with 15 minutes left. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong guess turns that panic into a real score disaster.
There is only one way to fix this. Practice the real thing, under real conditions, repeatedly. Every Saturday at our Dumka centre, students sit a full timed mock test - same OMR, same paper format, same marking rules. After ten Saturdays, the January exam feels like one more repetition. That steadiness is what separates selected children from the rest.
Most coaching centres never explain this clearly. We explain it on day one, in writing, for free.
Jharkhand Home State Quota - 67% 67 of every 100 seats at Sainik School Tilaiya are reserved for Jharkhand children. Your child is not fighting a national competition - mostly Jharkhand kids only.

Dumka district has one of the highest tribal populations in Jharkhand. Santhals, Paharias and other Scheduled Tribe communities make up a large share of families here. The ST quota - 7.5% of all seats, plus a lower qualifying threshold - is a real, concrete advantage that most families in this district are not using simply because no one has explained the process to them. We do.
Defence Ward Quota - 25% of remaining seats go to wards of serving or retired Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. If your family has a defence connection, your child sits in a smaller, more favourable pool. Coast Guard and Assam Rifles wards are also eligible after defence wards are placed.
Girls - minimum 10% of Class 6 seats, or at least 10 seats, whichever is higher.
You walk in, we sit with you, check your documents - Jharkhand domicile, caste certificate, service papers - and give you a written target score before you leave. Not a pep talk. A number.
AISSEE Class 6 - Maths, English, General Knowledge, Intelligence. A chapter test before each new topic. No child moves forward without clearing 70% in the current unit.
AISSEE Class 9 - Adds Science and Social Studies. Wednesday chapter tests. Full Saturday mock from 8 AM to 11 AM.
RMS Coaching - Rashtriya Military Schools, Class 6 and 9. Around 70% of RMS seats go to defence wards - a strong second route for many Dumka families. The paper leans heavily on reasoning. Our schedule is built for that from week one.
RIMC Coaching - Written, interview and viva prepared as one course. A retired Army officer sits on our mock panel. Your son faces a real interview in Dumka, not for the first time in Dehradun.
Crash Course - For families joining from October. Daily class, daily test, evening doubt session 7:30 to 8:30.
Foundation Batch (Class 4 and 5) - Saturdays only. Mental Maths, picture reasoning, English reading. By Class 6, half the AISSEE pattern is already familiar territory.

The 2025 list included children from Dumka town, Shikaripara, Jarmundi, Ranishwar and Saraiyahat. Several came through the ST and OBC-NCL home-state lists.
Dumka district has 10 blocks spread across hilly, forested terrain. Many families in Kathikund or Gopikandar are too far to commute daily. We run a live online batch alongside the classroom - same teacher, same hour, same paper. Saturday mocks are printed OMR sheets sent by post. Scan and return the same evening. Two of our 2025 selections came through this route.
Scholarship tests every April and September - open to every child in Dumka district, no prior enrolment needed.
Last year, ten children received waivers from 25% to full 100%.
ST and SC families - bring valid Jharkhand caste certificate and domicile. Separate fee slab applies. We confirm it at the counter, same visit. Defence families - service book or pension papers. Concession confirmed same day. OBC-NCL families - central-list certificate required. Slab explained at the counter.
No child from Dumka, Basukinath, Shikaripara, Jama, Jarmundi, Masalia, Ranishwar, Saraiyahat, Gopikandar or Kathikund should miss a Sainik School seat because of money. Walk in and say so directly. We sort it.
