Your Complete Day-by-Day Guide to Cracking RIMC Entrance 2027
Let me be honest with you. Every year thousands of students dream of getting into Rashtriya Indian Military College or RIMC in Dehradun. But most of them start their preparation late follow the wrong plan or have no plan at all. The result is that they miss the chance and that chance comes twice. In Class 8 and Class 9.
This post gives you a 120-day plan that top scorers actually follow. Read it fully save it and share it with your parents.. Most importantly start today.
Why 120 days you might ask. Why not 30 or 365 days? The answer is simple: 120 days is the amount of time. 30 Days is too short. You cannot cover the syllabus practice enough papers and build exam confidence in just one month. On the hand 365 days leads to burnout. Students lose focus after a few months their energy drops and their motivation fades.
Rashtriya Indian Military College or RIMC is one of the prestigious schools in India and it prepares students for a career in the Indian Armed Forces. The entrance exam tests students in three subjects: English, Mathematics and General Knowledge. English includes grammar, comprehension, essay writing and vocabulary. Mathematics includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mensuration. General Knowledge includes affairs, history, geography, science and defence knowledge.
After the written exam selected students go through a Viva Voce or interview and a Medical Test. Only the best make it through.
Now let us talk about the 120-day plan. It is divided into four phases.
The first phase is Foundation Building, which lasts from Day 1 to Day 40. The goal is to cover the syllabus and understand every topic clearly. Day 1 to Day 10 you will study Mathematics. Number system, fractions, decimals, HCF/LCM, percentage, ratio and proportion. Day 11 to Day 20 you will study English. Tenses, parts of speech /passive voice, direct/indirect speech and comprehension passages. Day 21 to Day 30 you will study Mathematics. Algebra basics, simple equations, geometry, lines, angles, triangles and circles. Day 31 to Day 35 you will study English. Essay writing practice letter writing and vocabulary building. Day 36 to Day 40 you will study General Knowledge. History basics, geography, important dates and current affairs of the last 6 months.
My advice to you is to not read but to write down formulas solve problems and make short notes for every chapter. This is how top scorers study.
The second phase is Deep Practice and Strengthening which lasts from Day 41 to Day 80. The goal is to practice questions fix weak areas and build speed. Now that you know the syllabus it is time to go deeper. This phase separates students from top scorers. Day 41 to Day 50 you will practice Mathematics. Word problems on profit/loss SI/CI, time and work, speed and distance. Day 51 to Day 60 you will practice English. Advanced grammar exercises, comprehension passages and synonyms/antonyms drill. Day 61 to Day 70 you will practice Mathematics. Mensuration, advanced geometry and data handling. Day 71 to Day 75 you will study General Knowledge. Defence-related knowledge, Indian Constitution basics, awards, sports and science inventions. Day 76 to Day 80 you will take two full-length tests analyse your mistakes and list your weak topics.
My advice to you is to keep an "Error Diaryβ. Write down every mistake you make in tests and review it weekly. This one habit can boost your score by 15-20 marks.
The third phase is Mock Tests and Exam Simulation, which lasts from Day 81 to Day 110. The goal is to take tests every 2-3 days and simulate real exam conditions. This is the important phase. Many students study well but fail in the exam because they never practised under time pressure. What to do in this phase? Take least 10 full mock tests in real exam conditions spend one hour analysing your mistakes after each test revise weak topics immediately practice essay writing at least three times a week and read newspapers daily for current affairs.
The fourth phase is Final Revision and Confidence Building, which lasts from Day 111 to Day 120. The goal is to revise everything stay calm and walk into the exam hall with confidence. The last 10 days are not for learning things but for revision only. Revise all your notes and formulas go through your Error Diary one last time take two final mock tests sleep 7-8 hours every night and stay positive.
Now let us talk about the daily routine for RIMC aspirants. Here is a daily routine that works: wake up at 6:00 AM fresh up and do some exercise or walk. From 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM study Mathematics. From 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM have breakfast. From 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM study English. From 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM take a break. From 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM study General Knowledge. From 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM have lunch and rest. From 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM revise morning topics. From 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM do some activity or sports. From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM practice tests or previous year papers. From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM read newspapers. Make notes on current affairs. From 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM have dinner. Spend time with your family. From 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM do some revision and vocabulary building. And at 10:00 PM go to sleep. Do not compromise on sleep.
There are five mistakes that RIMC aspirants make. Avoid these mistakes. You are already ahead of 80% of students. The first mistake is starting late. Many students begin just 30 days before the exam, which is not enough. The second mistake is ignoring English. Students focus on Mathematics and General Knowledge but English carries equal marks. The third mistake is not taking tests. You cannot win a cricket match without practice matches and mock tests are your practice matches. The fourth mistake is studying without a plan. Studying wastes time so follow a structured plan like this 120-day blueprint. The fifth mistake is preparing alone without guidance. Self-study is good. Expert guidance makes a huge difference.
