The Training Method That Helped 100s of Students Clear the Medical Stage
Every year thousands of students work really hard and do well in the entrance exam for Sainik School, RMS or RIMC ↗. They study for months and months. They solve hundreds of papers.. Then just when they think the hard part is over they get rejected at the medical stage. The reason is Flat Feet.
It sounds like a thing. Most families have never even heard of Feet.. Flat Feet is one of the biggest reasons students lose their seat in a defence school. Even after doing well in the written exam with good marks. The sad part is, in cases this problem can be fixed. It just needs to be caught and worked on properly.
This post is for every parent and student who is preparing for Sainik School, Rashtriya Military School or RIMC. We are going to talk about what Flat Feet is, why it matters in the medical test how hundreds of students have corrected it and why choosing the right coaching can save your child from an avoidable rejection.
What Are Feet and Why Do Defence Schools Care
Flat Feet. Doctors call it Pes Planus. Is a condition where the arch of the foot is missing or very low. When a person with Flat Feet stands on the ground the entire bottom of the foot touches the floor. There is no gap on the inner side like you would normally see.
Now in life many people live with Flat Feet and face no issues at all.. Military schools look at it differently. Students in Sainik Schools, RMS and RIMC do a lot of activity. They march distances run on rough ground do obstacle courses and train in tough conditions. A formed arch in the foot acts like a natural shock absorber. Without it the risk of foot pain, injury and fatigue goes up.
During the examination the doctor will ask the student to step on a wet surface and then stand on a dry sheet of paper. This is called the footprint test. If the footprint shows a flat impression with no arch the student is marked unfit. It does not matter how high they scored in the exam.
That is why this matters much. You could be the topper in the written test. If your feet are flat you will not get in.
The Good News. Flat Feet Can Be Corrected in Cases
Here is something that most parents do not know. In children between the ages of 8 and 14 the bones and muscles of the foot are still growing. The arch has not fully set yet. This means that with the exercises, done regularly over 8 to 12 weeks many children can develop a visible arch where there was none before.
This is not some method. Orthopaedic doctors and physiotherapists have known about these exercises for years. The problem is that most coaching centres only focus on the exam syllabus and never tell parents about the requirements until it is too late.
We have seen this happen again and again. A student clears the exam. The family celebrates. Then comes the medical test. Suddenly there is a problem nobody prepared for. The child is heartbroken. The parents feel helpless.. A seat that was earned through hard work is lost.
That does not have to happen. If you start early Flat Feet is one of the fixable problems in the entire selection process.
The Corrective Training Method. Step by Step
The exercises have been used by hundreds of students who went on to clear the medical stage successfully. They are simple they can be done at home. They do not need any expensive equipment. The key is practice and patience.
1. Towel Scrunches
Lay a towel on the floor. Place your foot on one end. Now using your toes try to scrunch the towel toward you. Do this 15 times with each foot. It strengthens the muscles under the foot that support the arch.
2. Heel Raises
Stand on the edge of a step or a thick book. Rise up on your toes slowly hold for two seconds come back down. Do 20 repetitions, three times a day. This builds strength in the calf muscles and the tendon that helps hold the arch up.
3. Marble Pickups
Scatter 15 to 20 marbles on the floor. Pick them up one at a time using your toes and drop them into a bowl. It sounds like a game. It works the intrinsic foot muscles very effectively. Do this for five minutes every day.
4. Barefoot Walking on Sand or Grass
Walking on natural uneven surfaces forces the foot to adapt and the arch muscles to work harder. Try to do this for 15 to 20 minutes every day. A nearby park, an area or even a garden works fine.
5. Short Foot Exercise
Stand with both feet on the ground. Without curling your toes try to lift the arch of your foot by pulling the ball of your foot toward your heel. Hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times. This is the targeted exercise for arch development and takes some practice to get right.
6. Resistance Band Ankle Work
Wrap a resistance band around your foot. Turn your ankle inward against the resistance. This strengthens the tibialis muscle, which is the main muscle responsible for holding up the arch. Do 15 reps on each side.
What to Expect. Week by Week
Weeks 1 to 2: Start with towel scrunches, marble pickups and barefoot walking. Take a footprint at home to see your starting point. The muscles will feel tired at first. That is normal.
Weeks 3 to 4: Add heel raises, arch lifts and resistance band exercises. Increase repetitions slowly. You will start noticing muscle tone in the foot.
Weeks 5 to 8: This is where real change begins. Take another footprint and compare it with the first one. Most students see a difference by now. The footprint starts showing a gap on the inner side.
Weeks 9 to 12: Keep going at effort. The arch stabilises. Do a wet footprint test at home. If you have been consistent there is a high chance you will pass the medical.
We have tracked this method across hundreds of students over the several years. The success rate for mild to Flat Feet is above 95 percent when the exercises are done properly and consistently.
Why the Right Coaching Programme Changes Everything
Let us be honest. Most coaching centres for Sainik School, RMS and RIMC only teach you Maths, English, GK and Intelligence. That is important no doubt.. It is only one part of the selection process. The full process includes a written exam, an examination and in some cases an interview. If you are only preparing for the written exam you are preparing for half the battle.
This is why our Sainik School, RMS & RIMC Coaching Programme was built the way it is. We have watched many bright students lose their seats because nobody told them about Flat Feet or about BMI requirements or about the eyesight standards. We decided that our students would never face that problem.
What Makes Our Coaching Different
Complete Academic Preparation. Our teachers have years of experience with AISSEE ↗, RMS and RIMC entrance exam patterns. We cover every subject in depth run mock tests based on previous year papers and give personal attention to each student’s weak areas. The goal is not just to pass the exam. The goal is to score high enough to secure a seat.
Medical Fitness Screening from Day One. The moment a student enrols with us we do a physical screening. We check for Feet, measure BMI assess eyesight and look for any other medical flags. If something needs correction we start working on it. This gives students 6 to 12 months of time. More than enough to fix most issues.
Supervised Exercise Sessions. For students with Flat Feet we do not just hand them a list of exercises and hope for the best. Our trained physical instructors run supervised sessions. They make sure the form is correct they track progress every two weeks. They adjust the routine as needed. This hands-on approach is the reason our medical clearance rate's so high.
Interview and Personality Training. RIMC and some Sainik School admissions include an interview. We prepare students for this through personality development sessions, group discussions and mock interviews conducted by people with defence backgrounds. Students walk into the interview room with confidence because they have practised it times before.
Hostel Facility Available. For students coming from cities we offer a safe and comfortable hostel. Living in an environment with other aspirants keeps students focused and motivated throughout the preparation period.
What Parents and Students Say
My son cleared the AISSEE exam with a rank but I was worried about the medical because a local doctor said he had Flat Feet. A friend suggested this coaching centre. Their physical training team worked with my son every day for 10 weeks. His arch improved he passed the medical. Today he is studying at Sainik School. I am really happy.
- Mrs. Sunita Sharma, Parent of a Selected Student
I did not even know I had Flat Feet until the screening test, at the coaching centre. If I had found out at the medical I would have been rejected. Because they caught it early and gave me the exercises I was able to fix it in time. I got selected for RMS Ajmer.
- Arjun M., RMS Ajmer Selected Student
It Is Not Just Feet. Other Medical Issues to Watch For
While flat feet gets a lot of attention there are medical reasons why students get rejected. Our coaching programme checks for all of these things on so that parents have time to do something about it.
• BMI: The students weight needs to be right for their height. If they are very underweight or overweight it can cause problems.
• Eyesight: The rules for vision are very strict. If there is a problem it is better to find out and go see an eye doctor.
• Dental problems: If a student is missing teeth has bad cavities or their teeth are not lined up right it can be a problem. Taking care of teeth on helps a lot.
• Knock Knees or Bow Legs: These are checked when the student has an exam. Sometimes exercises can help with cases.
• ENT problems: If a student has a nose or ear problems it might be a problem. It is an idea to see an ENT doctor before the medical exam.
The idea is simple. If you know about a problem a time before you can fix it.. If you find out on the day of the medical exam it is too late. Our coaching programme is based on this idea.
A Final Word to Parents
Your child has a dream. They might want to wear the uniform. They might want the discipline and adventure that comes with going to a Sainik School, RMS or RIMC. They might want to feel proud of what they're doing. This dream deserves a chance to happen.
Do not let a medical problem that can be fixed be the thing that stops your child. Flat feet is something that can be fixed with exercises every day for a few weeks.. You need to know about it early and you need to do something about it.
If you are looking for coaching that covers everything. School work, medical fitness, physical training and getting ready for an interview. We are here to help. Our programme has helped a lot of students do well in the exam and get into school on the day.
