Many students spend most of their time on Maths and ignore the Intelligence section. That is a mistake. The Intelligence section carries 25 questions worth 2 marks each — a total of 50 marks out of the 300-mark paper. Those marks can easily change your rank. And this is one of the most learnable parts of the entire exam. Practice for two weeks and you will see real improvement.
What Does the Intelligence Section Test?
It does not test memory. It tests how quickly and clearly your brain spots patterns, relationships, and rules. The section covers number series, letter series, analogies, classification, and mirror images. All 25 questions are MCQs with four options. There is no negative marking.

The Main Question Types
The types below are based on the official NTA syllabus and reflect the pattern seen consistently across AISSEE ↗ exams from 2020 to 2024.
Number Series — Find what comes next in a sequence of numbers. The rule is usually addition, subtraction, multiplication, or skipping at fixed intervals.
Letter Series — Find the next letter in a sequence. The pattern is based on alphabet positions (A=1, B=2... Z=26). Letters skip forward or backward by a fixed count.
Analogy — Two things share a relationship. Apply the same relationship to a new pair. These can be word-based (Dog : Puppy :: Cat : ?) or number-based (4 : 16 :: 5 : ?).
Classification / Odd One Out — Three items share something in common. One does not. Find the odd one.
Mirror Images — A letter, number, or shape is reflected in a mirror placed to its right. Pick the correct reflected image.
Pattern Completion — A sequence of shapes changes by rotating, flipping, or adding elements. Pick what comes next.
3 Previous Year-Style Questions With Solutions
These questions are based on the pattern and difficulty level consistently seen in AISSEE Class 6 Intelligence papers from 2021 to 2024.
Question 1 — Number Series
(Pattern seen in AISSEE 2022 and 2023)
2, 4, 8, 16, ___
(A) 24 (B) 28 (C) 32 (D) 30
Answer: (C) 32
Solution: Each number is multiplied by 2. 2 × 2 = 4 → 4 × 2 = 8 → 8 × 2 = 16 → 16 × 2 = 32
The rule is: multiply by 2 each time. Always check the rule works for every step, not just the last one.
Question 2 — Analogy
(Pattern seen in AISSEE 2021, 2022, and 2023)
Pen : Write :: Knife : ___
(A) Steel (B) Sharp (C) Cut (D) Cook
Answer: (C) Cut
Solution: A Pen is used to Write. So a Knife is used to Cut. The relationship is: object → its purpose. Always name the relationship in words before picking an answer. That one habit alone prevents most wrong answers.
Question 3 — Odd One Out
(Pattern seen in AISSEE 2022, 2023, and 2024)
Rose, Lotus, Mango, Jasmine
(A) Rose (B) Lotus (C) Mango (D) Jasmine
Answer: (C) Mango
Solution: Rose, Lotus, and Jasmine are all flowers. Mango is a fruit. So Mango is the odd one out. In classification questions, always check what three items share — then the fourth item that does not share it is your answer.
How to Prepare — 4 Simple Rules
Solve 10 intelligence questions every day without fail. Consistency beats cramming.
Name the rule out loud before writing the answer. If you cannot say the rule, you have not understood it.
Memorise squares from 1 to 20 and the full alphabet with position numbers (A=1 to Z=26). These two things alone help in at least 8 to 10 questions.
Use a small mirror at home to practise mirror image questions. Seeing it once is worth reading the concept five times.
